What Blood Pressure is Normal

Having a normal blood pressure is essential for a healthy living. The strength with which the heart pushes blood around your body to give it energy and oxygen is blood pressure.


Normal blood pressure is (120/80). There are two numbers or levels in a blood pressure reading. The top(or first) number is called systolic blood pressure, which is the highest point the blood pressure will reach when a persons heat beats.The bottom (or second) is called diastolic blood pressure, which is the lowest the blood pressure will reach when a persons heart relaxes in between heart beats.




Low Blood Pressure


Low Blood Pressure also known as Hypotension is when the flow of blood to heart, brain and other parts of the body is less. Low blood pressure without symptoms is not a serious issue but in several cases it can be life-threatening.


Symptoms

Blood pressure low symptoms include

  • dizziness,

  • fainting,

  • blurring of vision,

  • tiredness,

  • unconsciousness

  • depression

It can make some people feel minute discomfort while others can feel severe symptoms


Causes of Low Blood Pressure

The causes of low blood pressure can be one on the following reason

  • Loss of blood in large amount due to injury or internal bleeding will reduce the amount of blood in your body causing lowering of blood pressure.

  • Pregnancy can cause lowering of blood pressure due to increase in demand of blood by the growing new born

  • Certain heart problems due to which the blood pumped is not enough to meet the body requirements.Low blood pressure can be due to very low rate of heart beat, heart valves having some problem, failure of heart.

  • Endocrine problems including abnormal functioning of hormone making glands can lead to low blood pressure.Other causes include Addison’s disease, low blood sugar or hypoglycemia, diabetes.

  • Dehydration can sometimes indirectly cause low blood pressure. One of the problem associated with loss of a lot water from body is decrease in blood pressure and can cause cause weakness, dizziness and tiredness.

  • Specific medications can cause low blood pressure, this include beta blockers used for heart problems, some antidepressants, some erectile dysfunction drugs, diuretics. In such cases medications prescribed should be asked to change by your physician.

  • Allergic reaction or anaphylaxis shock causes or immunity system to allow to escape large amount of chemicals which resultantly can send you into shock lowering your blood pressure suddenly along with narrowing our airways, restricting breathing.

  • Septic shock is another low blood pressure shock and organ failure usually resulting from some bacterial infection causing irregular heart beat and resistance in flow of blood

  • Deficiency of important vitamin B-12 and Folic acid can cause pallor and weariness because of deficiency of red cells or haemoglobin in the blood, which in turn can lead to low blood pressure

High Blood Pressure


High Blood Pressure also known as Hypertension is when the heart and blood vessel have extra strain. The force of blood on the artery walls is high enough to show the problems the given condition. Above 120/80 is High Blood Pressure. For example if BP is 165/97 its very High Blood Pressure Often referred to as Hypertension Stage 2 And above 180/120 needs emergency care.


Symptoms

Blood pressure low symptoms include

  • Acute Headache,

  • Fatigue,

  • Vision Changes,

  • Blood while Urinating,

  • Bleeding nose

  • Pain on Chest

  • Vomiting

  • Irregularity in Heart Beat

If any of these symptoms is seen immediate medical attention is required
